The best season to visit El Salvador would most definitely be during the winter.  The winter months are directly after the rainy season so the landscape is still green and lush, the air is cool and there is minimal precipitation.  During the winter season, but more specifically during the December, it is recommended to engage in El Salvador's Christmas celebrations and to explore El Salvador's lakes, beaches and hiking trails.  Visiting Lake Coatepeque is a must when in El Salvador, for it offers breathtaking views of a volcanic island that is surrounded by a lake.  Tourists are also highly recommended to hike the Parque Nacional El Boqueron, which is located in El Salvador's capital city of San Salvador.  The hike offers hikers the opportunity to explore an extinct volcano and also allows them to see another smaller crater within the big crater.
